During neurofeedback training, it helps to relax and let your thoughts pass by without engaging with them. If you start trying too hard or focus on “making” the game work, other brain areas become active and, paradoxically, the game becomes less effective.
The Alevia games work best when you are relaxed and not thinking about anything in particular, similar to a gentle daydream. If helpful thoughts come up that you want to remember, you can jot them down in the rest break, so your mind is clearer for the next training block.
With practice, it usually becomes easier to enter this optimal relaxed state (sometimes called a flow state), and fewer thoughts will interrupt your sessions. Over time, your brain can learn to move into this state more quickly each time you train.
